For the Ghent Logistic Campus, located in the heart of the North Sea port area - Port of Ghent, the company Hebrimo Solar 21 BV built a photovoltaic installation. The project was executed in two phases: the first completed in 2021 and the second in 2022. In total, the project includes 14 installations that primarily supply electricity for local on-site use.
Ghent Logistic Campus is a state-of-the-art logistics hub with modern distribution and storage warehouses, offering a total storage space of 150,000 m².
The campus is a prime example of a decentralized, end-to-end energy project. This is where Heylen Energy excels: providing tailored guidance from concept to delivery. One of the major challenges of this project was that it had to be completed on a newly constructed site. The photovoltaic system needed to be operational at the same time the buildings were delivered. Additionally, each warehouse hall received its own dedicated installation, resulting in 14 separate operational systems. The generated electricity was primarily used within the buildings, with any surplus injected into the grid.
Results: The first phase of the project delivered a south-facing installation with a capacity of 5.2 MWp, while the second phase added another 4.2 MWp.
